I am searching for my Grandfather's parents. His original name was Walton Emmett Greene (born 1910) but he changed it in the 1940's to William Emmett Greene aka "Red" Greene.
I was told that we come from a line of only male Greene's several generations back.
My Grandfather's father was disowned from a plantation family in Zachary, LA. His father may also have been an only child.
We are also said to be from the same line as Gen. Nathaniel Greene. I haven't been able to find a direct Greene descendant from him so we may be from a cousin's line.
Any help would be appreciated.
