It is amazing how things get lost in a move. What a disaster for you. I looked up Halsey in "The Greenes of Rhode Island" and "Desc of Joseph Greene of Westerly." The latter book had a Halsey Baker Greene born in 1840. I could find any Halsey in the first book. A google search found a couple of references to the 1840 Halsey and a mention in a book published in 1858 regarding another man in Westerly, RI. I found him listed in the 1850, 1860, and 1870 censuses in PA, b 1814-1817 in NY, parents b RI. Middle initial may have been "J." In 1860 he is listed next to a James Green, 37, b PA. James may have been his brother. Halsey was married to Mary in 1850, Celia in 1860 and Serenia in 1880. So it looks like he was married twice and Albert (Elber in 1860) may have been the son of Mary. I also check the index of the Levi Greene genealogy and did not find Halsey. This genealogy contains a line of descent from John and Abigail Greene of East Greenwich and Coventry, wrongly attributing John to be the son of John of Quidnesset. The parents of John of EG and Cov who married Abigail are unknown as are the parents of John of Q. OK, I googled Halsey Green, leaving off the final "e". ALBERT H. GREEN, farmer, was born in Warren county, Pa., in 1850; married Emma Butts, of Brokenstraw, in 1871, and came to Harmony in 1878. Halsey Green, his father, was born in 1816; married Serena Crouch, of Sugar Grove, Pa., and lives at Youngsville, Pa.
