William Grotts was indeed killed shortly after his service with the IL rangers near Greenville IL in a place called Hill's Fort. There is a memorial marker there in a field placed by the Daughter's of 1812. If there are any further questions please feel free to post them, as I have extensive information on the family that i would love to share with other family members!
