More info on my Guhls

Okay, I found a little more information about the Guhls in the family line I am researching. Here is my new information:

"Edwin Guhl" is actually Sir Edwin Martin Von Guhl who married Rosalyn (Lindy) Shumway. His father was Edwin Martin Von Guhl who married Amanda Martin in Germany. Amandas parents were Franco and Whilemina. Edwin Martin Von Guhl's father was Martin Von Guhl. Apparently, when they came over, they dropped the "Von" part of the name due to the fact that the area they lived in there were other immigrants of other nationalities that interpreted "vonguhl" as "f- you". (Okay, here I am just relaying the story I was told today by my husbands half-aunt, bear with me, I am trying to sort out fact from fantasy.) The other thing I was told is that Franco Martin actually fought in the Franco war. Apparently, also, the Von Guhls had nobility titles and my half-aunt was told that there were a few dukes in the family. If this sounds even remotely familiar, or you know how I can track these guys down through other sites, I appreciate any help I can get. Thanks in advance!

-Kara
