If John was truly born in 1816 in Juniata Co., PA, then his father almost has to be Andrew STRAUB, Founder of Freeburg, because there was no other STRAUB/STROUP family living in "Juniata" Co. in the 1810 or 1820 census. I say "Juniata" Co. because Juniata Co. was not formed from Mifflin Co. until 1831. So, I guess my main question has to be, what is the basis for the birthplace of your John STROUP? If he was born in the part of Mifflin Co. that did not become Juniata Co. in 1831, then there are other STROUP families to consider as his possible parents.

Also, can you tell me, please, from where in Pennsylvania did the "Singmaster" party depart? I am not familiar with this migration.
