John Stroup born 11 Oct 1816 Juniata co. Penn. married Mary Albright (or Vines) abt 1840. She was born 23 Apr 1822.
John & Mary left Penn. in 1842 with the Singmaster party and moved to Iowa Terr.
They first settled in Talleyrand then moved to Richland where he lived out his life. Mary died in Des Moines. They had ten children, eight girls and two sons.
John became very wealthy and a founding father of the area.
