David, I've just discovered this site and you may already have this information, but I'm sure that the John Henry you are seeking is my ancestor too. I have information on the Haas family going back to Hieronymus Haas who came to America around 1710 to 1730. Not sure just when he arrived. He had one son Johan Heinrick born 1710, but not sure of that date either. The first Johan Heinrich, whom I believe is the 2nd generation Haas ,also had a son, Henry Haas born 1741-42, and died Jan. 30 1805. He would be my 3rd generation Haas. That is when the families branch off, as Captain Valentine , born 10-20-1770, is my 4th generation Haas. We have traced Haas's back eight generations. Henry had 11 children, Hannah was born about 1778 and married a George Boyer. E-mail me direct and we'll see if there is a connection between the families. B.Neumueller
