I am research my Haas line. Here is what I have found so far, perhaps someone can help. Anton Haas born Dec. 14, 1799 in Germany. Children include: Ferdinand ( a graduate of Heidelburg and a lawyer), Henry (owned a successful winery in Mainz), George, Lena or Lessa, Anna and Edward (my great great grandfather). There also might have been one other child, Carl, or that was a knickname of one of the other? Not sure... Edward immigrated circa 1842-45 to New York. Joined circus. Made his way to Terre Haute Indiana via the Erie Canal where he prospered as a grocer, a vintor, and a Nurseryman. He was married to a Wittenburg-either Nancy or Jenny ? perhaps. Edward's children include Rudolph, Edward C. Jr., Antonio, Paula, and Harry (my great grandfather) . Edward C. Haas died in 1919 Rudolph Haas settled in Springfield Illinois and owned an Electric Company called R.Haas Electric. Might have a middle initial in the company name. Married to a Mae. No children. Mae might have moved to Kansas City Mo. into a sanitarium. Edward C. Jr settled in Springfield and married a Clara. Their children were Edward C. Haas III, and Herbert Paula Haas married a Harry Medcraft and settled in Springfield Ill. No Children Antonio (Toni) married a BLUCKE and either lived in California or Ill. Conflicting information on where they lived. Children Edna, Rudolph and maybe a Will? Harry married a Hannah Loise Wright in Pittsburg PA. They eventually moved back to Terre Haute Indiana. Their children were Harry Jr (died infant) Mabel (died at 5 or 6) Carl, Paul and Margarette. The Haas' in Terre Haute had the Haas Homes Nursery founded by Edward C., contiued by Harry, and then by Paul and Carl until the early 1970's.
