My g-g-grandfather Adam Haas came from Germany to the US into port at Philadelphia in 1852 according to his US citizenship papers. He settled in the Spartanburg, SC area, but did died in NC at his daughter's house. Other Haas' had settled earlier in the 1800's around Salisbury (Rowan County) and west toward Hickory (Catawba County). Try looking in these areas.
