Hackett, Colin E, age 62, of Riverside, passed away on 7/12/05. Born on 4/09/43 in England. Colin lived in Livermore, CA for twenty years and Riverside for five years.
Colin was a senior research engineer at CE-Cert Facility at UC Riverside. He retire in 2000, after 27 years of service at Sandia National Labs in Livermore, CA.
Colin received his BA (Honors) and M.A. from Cambridge University, England; Ph.D. from Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island. He received an R&D 100 Award for technology in 1999. Also received British Aircraft Scholarship as an under-graduate.
Colin is survived by his Wife, Nora A. Hackett; Daughters,Catherine Silva of Rancho Cucamonga, CA., Captain Sarah Kurpe, serving in Baghdad, Iraq, Rebecca Hackett of San Diego, CA., and 2 granddaughters.
Funeral: 7/18/05, 10:00AM at St. George's Episcopal Church, Spruce Street and Watkins Drive, Riverside. There will be another service in Livermore, CA. on 7/23/05 10:00AM at St. Bartholomew's Episcopal Church.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to UCR Foundation, Colin E. Hackett Graduate Fellowship in Engineering.
