I just discovered that my Hackit family are really Hacketts from Tyrone County Ireland. For some reason after moving from Ireland to Scotland, their name changed to Hackit and carried over as Hackit to Philadephia in the United States.
My g-g-g grandfather was Robert Hackett born on March 17, 1828 in Tyrone County, Ireland. I found that his birthdate is most likely fabricated and his parents probably did not know his real birthdate, so cited March 17th. His father was Jacob Hackett also from Tyrone County, Ireland. His mother was Sarah A.
Would love to know if anyone has a Jacob Hackett in their Tyrone, Ireland family.
