In Mary Daniels Rice 1901 letter she tells of family in NH the fever to go west of beatiful land of Rock River [Beloit] WI in 1836. Joseph was married to Mercy Cass and had 3 children. She remebers as a child as they left from there house in light wagon and one horse.They made it toSouth Port now Kenosha where he had relatives there. He became sick and died and was buried there.Mercy continued to Beloit, lived and died there.
