Hi folks, New member here. - A little bit about me. I'm not big into Genealogy, but did want to do some research on my mothers side of my family. She was a Hackett. I don't have a lot of historical information to pass along, but hope that I have enough to get 'some' feedback. Here's what I know. My mother was born in Liscombe Iowa in the early 1900's. Her father was a Hackett, but died before I was born. Around 1956 I remember traveling to St. Augustine, Iowa and visiting more of my mothers family, with a surname of Hackett, sorry, I don't remember any of the given names, but it was a married couple with one or two children. In 1953 my mother took us by train to visit another member of her Hackett family in Pennsylvania - I want to say they lived in Harrisburg, but could be wrong. They were introduced as our "aunt and uncle", although I'm pretty sure they were really my mothers aunt and uncle. Their names were Jim and Kitty (Katheryn??). They had 1 child, a boy, that was stricken with some kind of malady that rendered him unable to speak or walk - (I suspect something like Muscular Dystrophy, although I don't know for sure what it was). My father died in 1952 (Polio) and my mom remarried in 1958, we moved to California in 1962, and lost all contact with those members of the Hacketts we had known in Iowa, and Pennsylvania. I'm wondering - in your researches have you run across anyone / thing that might be my long lost relatives? I do have some research (pictures) of tombstones of some names and dates, just not very much. Thanks for and help you might have!! Notify Administrator about this message?
