There are previous threads regarding a John Hackett, born in Dublin, Ireland who served in the US Cavalry with Custer. I am starting a new post so it is at the beginning of the thread in hopes that one of his relatives, who made a previous post 8 years ago, may see it again. John served for 30 years in the U.S. cavalry and came back to Illinois after his tour of duty. He then married Esther Smith in 1902. John died in 1904 and is buried at Ft. Sheridan. John had brother named Hugh who lived in Chicago from 1869 and married Mary Smith in Waukegan, Illinois in 1874. I am related to both John and Hugh.
