The Hambys of Lincolnshire
Posted by: Jason Simmons (ID *****7239) Date: March 02, 2012 at 07:27:57

The Hambys, at one time, were large landowners, yet they're hardly mentioned in "Burke's Gentry." Additionally, does anyone have any further information about them? At one point in time they seemed to be quite successful, yet were never elevated to the peerage, which is rather odd because they seemed to contribute a great deal to British history and were friends w/ William the Conqueror.

Please explain as my late grandmother, Ruth Oleta Hamby was possibly a direct descendant in her male line to the Hambys of Lincs via Francis Hamby.

I would like to learn as much as possible about the Hambys and are of any of their mansions still in existence?
