with regards to the 'rogues' in the family it could well be true. the hamplett branch is on my grandmothers maternal side and from what i remember hearing from my grandmother and her siblings the hamplett/hamlett side of the family was a 'nasty bunch' as they would put it. i have no idea why they were considered nasty and infact my father got on very well with his grandmother hamplett. Maybe i will unearth the secret in my research and maybe the sheep stealing is the way to go. thankyou very much for your reply by the way.
