thank you for your help. I did find last night a brief history on the Hanger family and it did mention the connection of Peter Hanger Allen to James Allen. I was hoping to find a tie in with the James Allen to by John Allen b 1770/72 possibly Va.who married an Elinor and then later an Esther Jane Neal in 1826 Tazewell co. I have a John Allen who married Eleanor Steele in 1790 in Augusta/Rockbridge co. area but can't determine if it is mine or not. I appreciate your help. you did give me a few more clear dates than i found so it could help me with a time line. thanks again. Sue
