Dear Nancy
My name is John Gooch and I too can trace a line of my family tree to this particular family of Richard Hanwell and Sarah Ann Handley. Sadly I am not of direct bloodline but my ggf on my mother's side had an older brother, George Jupp who married Eliza Emma Hanwell in 1866. From her birth certificate I know that her parents were said Richard and Sarah Ann and she was born in 1844 (they were living at James Place - I have the number as 16). I also have information from the 1881 census that shows Richard (widowed) living as father-in-law with george and emma in Derby Buildings St Pancras aged 78.
I cannot help you extend the line back further as I too am struggling at that point but i would love to learn any other details you have of the family and their numerous offspring and I can certainly add other bits relating to George and Emma and their offspring.
John
