My Great Great Grandfather from Doon, Limerick, Ireland was named Timothy Hourrigan. However, the records in the Catolic Church in Atchison, Kansas for the children he has by his 2nd and 3rd wives spell the name harigan, horigan, horgan, hourrigan, and harrigan. I suspect this was because he could not read or write and the priest of the time recorded it so. I went to Doon and looked exhaustively thru the earliest church records. There I found several families with the same name and same childrens names. I believe that we are all related if we can prove the Doon, Limerick connection. Timothy lived to be 107 and had three wives. The first Mary ?, second Bridget Joy and last Myrtle Goldie Reeves. He had two daughters who stayed in Ireland at the Doon Convent until they came to the US to join him in Atichison, KS. Later he moved to Langdon, Reno Co., Kansas. His son by Bridget was my fathers Grandfather. He ran for land in the opening of the Cherokee run in Oklahoma. If any of this sounds familiar, I can give you more information.
