Hi Peter,

I'm working on a Harrigan family from Ayrshire. I have Hugh Harrison, son of Daniel Harrigan and Elizabeth Woods, born Aug 1856 at Paisley, Renfrew, Scotland. However, in the 1861 census, the family is living at Auchinleck, Ayrshire at Deanconner Square.

Hugh immigrated to the US in 1878 and settled in Mercer County, Pennsylvania. He maried Anna Marie McCormick 1 May 1879 at St. Rose Catholic Church, Hermitage, Mercer County, Pennsylvania. They moved to Cherokee County, Kansas where their 10 children were born. Hugh, who was known as "Hap" to his family, was a big red-haired man who lived until his 95th year, dying in 1951 at Coffeyville, Kansas.

Are you familiar with this particular family? If so, please drop me a line if you think it might be connected with the Harrigan family you are descended from. Also, where in Ireland does the family come from?

Thank you again!

Cary C.
