Will of John Harris deceased presented by Robert Harris and Overton Harris whereupon Abel L Parrish and wife Mary, Lewis Wilkerson and Jane, + John Harris enter caveat to will.


May court 1821

Will of John Harris contested. Will was made 1/25/1814 + willed to wife Anne kitchen furniture + 5 negroes, a horse bridle + saddle; to sons Robert, John, Sterling each one dollar, to son Overton a still, 3 negroes, blacksmith tools + 2 featherbed + furniture; to daughter Mary Parrish one hundred dollars; to daughter Jane Wilkerson one dollar; daughter Elizabeth Amis one dollar; daughter Fanny Murrow 200 dollars; daughter Sarah Pitmond one dollar; at death of wife, son Jon to have a negro man, son Overton 1 negro man, son Sterling a negro man, Overton a negro woman; All not devised to be sold + after Ann Murrow paid given 200 dollars + Mary Parrish 100 dollars; If any money left to be divided to all children. wit. by Robert + James Sandford, Wm. Lassiter. Suit bought by exer of John Harris v/s Abel L Parrish + wife + others + granted apeal to Superior Court.

Henrietta Wilkerson Will - Person county, NC 7-30-1847

In the name of god amen, I Henrietta Wilkerson of the County of Person and State of North Carolina being of sound mind and memory but considering the uncertainty of my earthly existance do make and declare this my Last will and testament in Manner and form following, that is to say , First that my Executor herein after named Shall provide for my body a decent burial suitable to the wishes of my relations and friends and pay all funeral expenses together with my just debts how? so ever and to whom soever owing out of the moneys that may forthcome into his hands as a parcel of my estate.
Item. I give and bequeath to my daughter Nancy Wilkerson who married James Wilkerson, a man Ben, a woman Linda, Two girls Susan and Gelllar, half of my track of land where I now live, the lines to sum? Eastwood West and for her to have the North end. all my household and Kitchen furniture and half of the stock to her and her heirs for ever.
I give to my two Grandsons George O Wilkerson and Samuel Wilkerson children of John H Wilkerson, one woman Milly one girl Viney one boy Thomas half of my track of land where I now live. the south end, all of the cooking tools. Half of the stock to them and their heirs for ever.
I give to my son John H Wilkerson 5 dollars to him aand his heirs for ever. I want my old place sold by my executor and equall divided between my daughter Nancy Wilkerson and my two grandsons, George O Wilkerson and Samuel Wilkerson and thier heirs.
Lastly, I do ?(ink smudged) and appoint my trusty friend James? Holloway my lawful executor to all intent and purposes to execute this my last will and testament according to the true intent and meaning of the same and every part and clauses then of Sarily? awoking? and declaring utterly void all other wills and testaments by me heretofore made in eventof? where? of I the said Henrietta Wilkerson do here unto set my hand and seal this the 23 day of July 1847.
