The Social Security Death Index shows a Charles E Helm, born 22 May 1922, died 22 April 1992 at Huntsville, Walker, Texas. I don't know if this is your grandfather. The SSDI record is here:

These records have been found at www.familysearch.org, which is a free genealogical service. The 1940 census was published last month, but has not yet been indexed for Texas. If you check back in a few months, you may be able to find your grandfather, with his parents, listed on that census. I couldn't find him in the 1930 census.
