The information we have in our tree is that two brothers, John Baptiste Hess b: 01 Jan 1848 Alsace d: 11 Mar 1932 Alberta Canada and Edward Hess b: 1851 Alsace d: 9 Sep 1920 Alberta Canada.
They left Alsace-Lorraine after defeat in the war of 1870 and first settled in Fishbach, Pennsylvania and moved to Kansas near Mayetta and Hoyt where they remained until 1902, when they moved to Canada.
The only information from Alsace we have is a photo of the Mother (no name) of John and Edward taken by Otto Bacher in Molsheim and a second photo labeled “Joseph Sundark - Aunt Kate’s Son” Kate or Catherine is believed to be the sister of John and Edward Hess. This photo was taken in a later year by Otto Bacher in Molsheim.
I would be interested in hearing from anyone with Hess photos or connections to the area in Alsace near Molsheim.
