I wish I did know more about the Heynen's in Germany, especially when I was once stationed in the AF in Germany. I've actually been to Cologne a couple of times. I know my g grandfather John Henry Heynen was born in Spenrath and I have to assume the information is correct that says his father, John Meinhardt Heynen was born there as well. Your John's grandfather would be of the right age to be a brother to John Meinhardt, he being born in 1819. But at this time it's only speculation since I dont know if John M. had family and if so where they lived. There shouldn't be too many Heynens in Germany since like I said earlier Heynen is the Dutch spelling.
