Well it's been a while since I was on here. I've had luck getting a birth certificate of my gf Will Higdon b.1895. Had some luck for a short period of time with a grandaughter of my gf's cousin, but we seem to have lost touch.
I'm not a geneaology pro, I'm just trying to find out about my gf's family, so please bear with me.
My gf Will Higdon b. 1895 massac county/il d.1962 graves county/ky. His father was William Higdon b.? D.?, his mother was Ellen Finch b.? d.?.
I know that he had 3 cousins, Ray, John, and "little" Willie, and that they had moved to Indiana.
My dad, Robert O. told me that his grandmother(Ellen) had given up my gf to an orphanage at Paducah,KY in 1900. I do not know if my ggf had died, but my dad said that Ellen remarried and died during the flu epidemic.
Will had at least 1 brother and 1 sister. The brother was named Leslie Fole(sic), the sisters' name is not known to me, but she moved to California, and she passed away about 1953. My dad said she was an actress and had a stage name.
I believe that Ray Higdon(cousin to my gf) had a daughter named Janet b.1935, and I believe was raised in Indiana.
Final note, my dad has said that there was some Cherokee blood in our line from a chiefs' daughter.
