Bennett Augustine was the son of John Thomas Higdon and Elizabeth Ann Hill. John Thomas was the son of Ignatius Jr and Mildred Dyson. He died near Athens, Ala on 7/13/1862. (I have copies of his Civil War Service Record) The Bennett Higdon who served in the 3rd Kentucky Cavalry was not Bennett Augustine but Bennett Henson Higdon from Daviess County, Kentucky.( His father, Bennett Henson came to Kentucky from Maryland with all the rest but I haven't been able to absolutely prove his parentage ). My grandmother's grandmother was Ann Nancy Higdon, John Thomas' sister. I am connected to the Higdon line in 3 different ways; my grandmother's grandmother, my grandmother's husband, Guy Higdon (my mom and dad were both Higdons), and my father, Charles F. Higdon, all from Grayson County. Dad's line comes down through Ignatius Sr's brother, Benedict Leonard Higdon.
Which one of Bennett Augustine's children do you descend from? I have tons of info if you want it.
