Charles, I have at least 3 connections to the Higdon family line. My father's line is: John I, William, Benedict Leonard, Francis Xavier, John Uriah, Robert Heston, Joseph Edward and my father, Charles F. My mother was also a Higdon! Her father's line is a little more difficult to pin down and is the crux of my research right now but this is what I have: Charles William b. 1800 in Maryland m. Nancy Riggs 1822 in Nelson Co. Ky, William Riggs b. 1822 in Ohio (their 1st child) m. 1. Artemesia Monarch 2. Sarah Jane Storm, Guy Higdon (my grandfather) b. 1876 in Daviess Co, Ky m. Mildred Gertrude Sims, and Melinda 'Linnie' Higdon (my mother). My third connection is through Mildred Gertrude Sims (my maternal grandmother). This is where you and I are more closely connected; Mildred's mother was Mary Ellen Alvey, daughter of Ann 'Nancy' Higdon and Benjamin Francis Alvey. Ann was the sister of John Thomas Higdon and your Samuel Charles. My suspicion is that my GGGrandfather, Charles William was the son of Thomas Higdon Jr. and Artemesia Delashmutt but I have nothing to prove this. Many believe that he was a son of Peter Higdon and Anna Pierce but there again, no proof. I know that some of the descendants of Thomas (son of John I) and Margit Boarman eventually moved into Ohio and Charles' first son, my GGrandfather was born in Ohio??? The more I dig, the more intricate the puzzle becomes! Elisa Notify Administrator about this message?
