I am looking for information on my g.g.grandfather James Anderson Higdon. He was born in Missouri (based on census info)Feb 20, 1837. He married Rachel A. Freeland in 1861. They had several children; Martha Evaline b.1879, Joseph Howell b.1862, Margaret Zilpha b. 1865, Jesse James b. 1869, Minnie Caroline b. 1875 and my great grandmother Sarah Isabell b. 1868. They lived in TN (Polk & Marion Co.) until they went to Oklahoma where they are found living in the Cherokee Nation 1900 census...later moving to McAlaster, OK.(The Indian connection was through Rachel). The only reference we have to James Anderson's family is from a letter written by his daughter Martha Evaline many many years ago. It reads in part:

"..you know my father only had one brother his name was Bob. He had 3 sisters one was named Sarah and she married a Higden, another was named Terze and I think she married a Maccullum and I have forgotten the other ones name, but she married a man by the name of Robertson. She had a daughter Bettie that married a man by the name of Christian, she was a school teacher. My father had one uncle that was a minister and one that was elected as a senator or congressman or something of the kind. I was only a little more than 2 years old when we left Tenn, so all I know is just a little."

I have possible parents of James Anderson as: Joseph Higdon and Margaret Curney (Carney), but don't know if that is fact. Hoping to find someone who may have a connection. Thanks. Tina
