I am searching for the parents of Adolph / Adolphus Higdon b. 9/13/1873 d. 2/26/1920 m. Fannie Bell Eldridge. There seems to be some contradictory information out there on the web and I am hoping someone can clear it up. Adolph's death certificate apparently indicates his parents as John Higdon and Rhoda Ridley. However, there are several genealogies which are listing his mother as Rhoda C. Higdon. No problem if Rhoda and John were cousins... we all have those ancestors, but if you follow Rhoda's Higdon line, there is no evidence for John's. I have it that Adolph was born in Swain Co., NC, but can find no evidence of the marriage of John Higdon and Rhoda ? in Swain, Jackson, or Macon counties NC. Higdons were apparently migrating south into Georgia and west into TN in the late 1800's from NC. Adolph and Fannie's children are found in Eastern TN. Any information or corrections are appreciated!
