I connect to the same Higdon line as JoAnn.....Thomas G. Higdon born 1815 NC, died before 1900 census in Van Buren Co AR.
He can be found in the 1850 Carroll Co TN census - along with his father Simion and his brother John born 1826.
It seems Thomas and John are names used every generation....and I have not followed which stayed in TN and which moved to Arkansas. Thomas G. born 1815 moved to Van Buren Co AR in 1870s after the Civil War (he was a Union man). I don't know which of his sons moved to AR with him, I think at least one stayed in TN.
Can you give us a bit more info on the Arkansas part, dates perhaps?
