I would not doubt that many of the different Higdons are related. The name appears in the first records of North Carolina.....Thomas G. Higdon born 1815 NC along with his siblings and father Simeon are found 1850 in Carroll County Tennessee census....

Thomas and John are names used over and over in each generation. Sidney for a girls name is used a lot also.

These Carroll Co TN Higdons were involved in Civil War (as were most southern families) but were Union people. After the war in the 1870s they seem to have moved since their neighbors did not appreciate the fact that they had been Union. Thomas G. Higdon b 1815 moved with many of his grown children to Van Buren Co Arkansas, I don't know what happened to his brother John born 1826.

I have seen Higdons in Georgia around this time I think connect to the TN/AR group. I also think a KY group might connect.

I just know that Rev War there are Higdon in North Carolina records, as well as Thompson, etc.
