Anyone heard of Higdon pickle relish?

I hope this is not too much off-topic. I have a dear friend (not a Higdon) whose family grew up enjoyed a pickled cabbage and green tomato relish called Higdon. She has never encountered anyone else who has heard of it. I found a couple references in 1860s Pennsylvania and Ohio newspapers to Higdon relish with the same ingredients as my friend's recipe.

Higdon is such an unusual name for a relish that I assume it must be named after the family that thought it up. Have any of you ever heard of this?
