Sumter Co. SC Hiltons

Is there any difference between the Hilton's in Sumter Co. and the ones in Lancaster. I found an older William Hilton possibly born in 1760 on the 1830 census for Sumter. This after finding the Cherokee Applications of William Joseph Hilton b.1799 Sumter SC. of Burnt Corn Monroe Co. ALabama. I asked a lady for help in the Sumter Co. Genealogical Society and she never got back with me. There supposed to be some wills and other information there according to her.

The Cherokee applications say that William Joseph Hilton's father was William Hilton from the Cherokee Nation and that he was an Indian Doctor. I would like to know if any of the Wills, tax records there might help shed some light on this.

I also have Cherokee applications for the family of Jahial Hilton in Murray GA. Jahial was born in SC. Is there a connection between the two families? Does anyone know for sure that these families had Native American Ancestry?
I need help with the Sumter Co. SC Hiltons and to know if they are different than the other Hiltons in Lancaster.

Mike
