Joseph, I don't know if this will help or not but I have a listing of all Holdens since the Civil war. There are two Mathews listed in Louisana,Matthew Holden 304 King Rd Lafayette, and a Mathew Holden at 1118 Greene St Abberville.
The second Matthew has only 1 T. This could give you a town to look in.
