Many thanks for the information re your great grandfather and his brother and the tragic set of circumstances regarding their deaths. The information about the Hollenbeck shipping line might well explain why my great grand-uncle's letters were addressed c/o Hollenbeck and Fromman.

Also, it might be possible that the Chontales Mines (where my relative worked as Chief Medical Officer) might have belonged to J.E. Hollenbeck. I have yet to prove this.

Side Note: My relative, Dr. Richard Rix, also came to a tragic end after his 4 year stint in Nicaragua. He died of appendicitis while on board the ship that was taking him back to the UK.
