Hi Mark,

There are a couple of us that are researching Hugh Horton of Bertie and we have strong evidence that our line descended from him. However, we are not caught up into the DNA at the moment as it doesn't prove anything other than being of the family group.

There are no organizations such as DAR, that recognize the DNA. They want documented evidence and that is what we are attempting to do at this point. We support tradition, then DNA if possible.

I, along with 2 other lady researchers have been on this line for several years, as well as a couple of male descendants.

If you can shed any light on this matter, please contact me or Thelma Shields.

If you do not mind sharing, what is your mother's family line that possibly connects to Hugh Horton of Bertie Co. NC?

We have placed all of his sons in order, we beleive and will work on the daughters soon.

Thank you for any info that can assist us in our research.

We are planning on going to Raleigh to the Archives this spring but then that is a long time away right now.

Warmest Regards,
Bettye Virginia Doucet Webber
