Without knowing which "records" you are refering to I can't really answer.
If you rely on 'Ancestry World Tree' - my suggestion is DONT
I gave you actual census records - although they vary from one to another - sometimes you have to guesstimate births - they can be off as much as five years on census records. One year they will use first and the next middle so you have to find the right families
World tree submitters guess at families - they get their information from a variety of sources - some are from LDS and they are not cited as accurate unless you can find the source of their suppositions - some are from other trees.

I usually rely on government sources - census- marriages- wills- etc.

The USGenWeb would be a good place to start- you can go to Illinois and then to the county - most of them have local volunteers that are willing to do look-ups and you can find obits, will records - (they will usually only refer you to volume and pages - it will cost you money for a copy of them-from the local court clerk) sometimes local marriage records are different from state sources.

As far as fixing things - you can better blow into the wind trying to get someone to correct theiur database - I only know of two that I have good luck with and that is only because they really care about correct data not just posting information.

Betty
