The only way to know for sure is to write for a death certificate - it should have the parents information on it since his wife was still alive to give the information - she should have known her in-laws names - (doesn't your wife? - presuming you are old enough to be married). Charles was too early for Social Security to start filling out cards. My husband's maternal grandmother was a Horton (she was a nice lady) - so I just gather information - you never know when they will turn out to be related.
