A recently published history of several families including our Horton line was discovered with the help of a very capable librarian in the Virginia Historical Society Library in richmond, Virginia when I and a cousin were there in early June, 2007.

the author is Francis Claiborne Johnston, Jr. and it was published in 2002. The title is "The Hoopers of Caswell and Durham County, North Carolina and Allied Families, with Their Virginia Origins. (Walker, Henderson, Kimbrough (Kimbro), Jones, Foster, Horton, Wilson (Willson), Strong, Salling and Carter. The Call Number is CS71.H788 - 2002. it is in the archives and must be requested at the desk.

this was an extensive and very thorough wwork. We printed out 35 pages that had to do with the history of the Horton Family, beginning with Hugh Horton Sr. It also has a page that speculates on who his father may have been. The reason he has been so illusive is because his name was Henry Wharton. Reasons are given for why Hugh may have changed the spelling of his name.

Nevertheless, this is a well documented history of Hugh Horton, his son, Hugh Horton Jr. and so on down the line.
I have all 35 pages posted at my private family research website. since I descend directly from Hugh Horton, I would assume we are related, and therefor you would be eligible to visit or become a member(no fee) of my website and print out the entire posting. There are many other members there who also descend from my 3rd great grandmother, Rosa Horton of Rutherford, N.C. and later, Allen Co., KY She married Allen Doyle in 1806.
She was the daughter of Reuben Horton and Winnifred____? I can post the entire line, but not from memory. Send your name and email address to my email address posted above if you or anyone else would like to read this document.
