I am looking for a Harriet Hortorn who married John Slagle on Januany 19, 1833 in Richmond, Virginia.
If this is the correct Harriet, she was born in Virginia about 1813 and John was born in Pennsylvania about 1799. They resided in southern Virginia (Mecklenburg and Halifax Co.s). John was most likely a tanner by trade, he died 1858 in Halifax Co., Va. at age 59. His parents are named as John and Christiana Slagle.
John and Harriet Slagle's children are as follows:
1. John Slagle b. abt. 1834 N.C.
2. William Slagle b. abt. 1836 N.C.
3. Rebecca Slagle b. abt. 1840 V.A.
4. Mary A. Slagle b. abt. 1842 V.A.(married William D.Glasscock, had children Harriet, Ellen, Emmet, Cordelia, John, Cesar, and Alvin)
5. Josiah Slagle b. abt. 1844 V.A.
6. Langdon Slagle b. abt. 1846 V.A.
7. George Washington Slagle b. 1850 V.A.(married Emily Elizabeth Wood, had children Lula, John Henry, William Emmit, Eva, George, and Mable).
