Lany Albert Howle was born 10 MAY 1941, a son of Albert Caleb Howle and Marie Walker.
Albert Caleb Howle was born 10 MAY 1915 at Modoc, SC. A son of Tillman David Howle and Annie
Shelton. He was married to Marie Walker and died 16 NOV at Modoc, SC.
Tillman David Howle was born in 1889 in Edgefield County, SC. a son of William Albert H. Howle and
Sarah Ann McDaniel. He married Annie M. Shelton and had three children: Clarence D. Howle, Albert
Caleb Howle and Sarah Howle. He died in 1949 at Modoc, SC. Annie M. (Dotie) Shelton was born 1890 at
Old Fort, NC. a daughter of Jeff Shelton and Elizabeth Jennings. She died 1949 at Modoc, SC.
William Albert H. Howle was born 30 JAN 1835 in Edgefield County, SC. a son of Thomas David Howle
and Martha B. Williams. He married (second) 15 JUN 1868 to Sarah Ann Mcdaniel. They had eight
children: Willie L. Howle, Martha E. Howle, Lula Howle, Bessie Howle, Thomas Caleb Howle, Bessie S.
Howle, Bertie Iola Howle and Tillman David Howle. Sarah Ann McDaniel was born 11 AUG 1853 in
Edgefield County, a daughter of Levi Holmes (b. 4 DEC 1831) and Martha Sharpton, born 1834, a daughter
of Alexander Sharpton (1801-5 NOV 1892) and Adeline Bussey (17 SEP 1821-1881-2) Thomas David
Howle was born in 1810 in Edgefield County, SC, a son of William Howle and Martha Holmes. He married
Martha B. Williams and had three children:
William Albert H. Howle, Thomas D. J. Howle and Martha W. Howle. Martha Holmes was born in Edgefield
County in 1786 and died there in 1855. William Howle was born ca. 1784, a son of William Howle and
Elizabeth:
They had seven children: Thomas Howle, Edward Howle, Elizabeth Howle, Permelia Howle, Sarah Ann
Howle, Agnes Howle and Lydia Howle.
William Howle was born 7 AUG 1755 in Charlotte County, VA. a son of William Howle and Sarah Harvey.
After service in the Revolutionary War, he moved to Edgefield County, SC. He married a woman probably
named Elizabeth.
They had eight children: William Howle, Alexander Howle, Elizabeth Howle, Thomas Howle, Agnes Howle,
Polly Howle and Milley Howle.
William Howle died in 1844. His wife (Elizabeth)died in 1822 after being “struck by lightning whilst sitting in
her hours.”
William Howle was born about 1730.
ca. 1750 he married Sarah Harvey in Lunenburg County, VA. They had three children, Thomas H. Howle,
William Howle and Elizabeth Howle. Sarah Harvey was born ca. 1738 in Charlotte
County, VA. a daughter of Thomas Harvey (ca. 1705-1782) and Elizabeth Blassingame (b. ca. 1709)
Nothing is known of this line beyond the first William. It is possible he
was descended from Richard Howle, who came here from England with the Second Virginia Company of
London in 1609.
