James Howle of New Kent Co. VA married abt. 1806 to Elizabeth Otey daughter of James and Frances Graves Otey.
1810 New Kent Co. VA Census - James Howle - 00010;20100;03
Means 1 man aged 26-under 45 (James), 2 girls under 10 and one female 16 to under 26 (Elizabeth) and 3 slaves This is correct, in 1810 James would have been 30 and Elizabeth was 25 per their tombstone in Warren Co. KY

1819 James and family are now in Warren Co. KY on the Taxpayers list living on the Barren River, they had 2 horses and a total net worth of $60.00 ! His brother in-law James Otey was also in Warren Co. KY with James Howle.

1850 Warren Co KY Census household #1-420 the two children listed are the only ones left in the home. 1850 Cencus show James Howell born 1780 VA wife Elizabeth F. born 1785 VA Childlren Ephroditus P. born 1819 KY, Sebetha born 1829 KY and Elizabeth Carroll born 1802 VA.

1782 New Kent Co. VA Tax List show an Epaphraditus Howle 423 Acres. Surely with a strange name like this there must be a family connection. Most probably James Howell who married Elizabeth Otey was the son of this Epapharaditus Howle and that's why they named their son Ephroditus P. Howel.

From the book: "Ancesteral Graves in Warren Co. KY" Call# 969.9955 Filson Club Louisville KY pg. 12 we find a transcription of the Howle Cemetery located one mile north east of Barren River Church on Road 1435. Copied by O. L. Thomas.
Their tombstones read:
Howl, James S. 12-10-1780 died 12-21-1850
Howl, Elizabeth wife of James S. 5-23-1785 died 10-18-1857
