I think that Abbey of 1850 in household of her father John Thompson and mother Margaret Nancy Russell is the same Sarah A. of 1860 in household of her husband William J. and as Sarah Alice in 1870 household of her husband William J. and the S. A. in household of her father John Thompson in 1880. I would guess that Abbey might be a nickname for Alice. There are no other children other than Frederic 15 and Abbey 11 in 1850 C,and none at all in 1860 & 70 census in the household of John Thompson. It would seem a 2nd. daughter would have to have been enumerated in one of those unless she married prior to 1850.
