Dear Brian,
Just read your message about your search for your family name. I am originally from France and Hue is my maiden name.I know that Hue is a very old French name, Of Norman origins. There are a good many Hue in Normandy, most of them concentrated in the department of Manche, Normandy. Every one with this name is originally from Normandie. It has been speculated that it is a Viking name or a name associated with the Anglo-Saxon name Hughes...A linguistic teacher I knew speculated it might mean soul or spirit...But these are speculations. I am absolutely certain it's of Norman origins though. Please feel free to contact me if you wish. Who knows ? We might be long lost cousins...Sincerely.
