In working with a great many original documents from Cabell, and Greenbrier counties in WV, and Augusta and Bath counties in VA, I've been able to pretty well determine that your Andrew is the son of James Hughart (b ca. 1794-1798 according to various census records). This James was the son of Andrew Hughart (b. ca 1770, d. 1822 Cabell Co, VA/WV) and Catherine Black (b. ca 1774 d. aft 1840 probably in Hancock Co, IN). Catherine was daughter of Abraham Black and her husband, Andrew Hughart was the son of James (d. 1791 Greenbrier Co, VA/WV) and Agnes Jordan???? Hughart. This James Hughart who died in 1791 was NOT the son of James Hughart who died in 1767 in Augusta County as most Hughart researchers seem to think. A number of Augusta and Bath County records show positively that another James Hughart (d. between 1816-1820), living on the Cowpasture River and married to "Margaret", was the son mentioned in the will of James Hughart who died in 1767. I have about 17 pages of documents showing the chronology of the Hugharts in VA and WV and my only conclusion at this point is that the James Hughart of Greenbrier Co (d. 1791) was a nephew of James Hughart (d. 1767) of Augusta Co.
