Solomon HAAS (1801-1881) PA>WI>IL / Jonas BREON (1832-1906) PA>WI>IL>NE

Seeking the 1860 and 1870 census records of Solomon HAAS. Also, the 1860 census record of Jonas BREON. I have searched and searched and cannot find them, at least not in the indices available to me (online at Genealogy.com and GenealogyLibrary.com). I'm going nuts looking!

Solomon HAAS was born 1800/1801 in PA, the son of Capt. Valentine HAAS & Mary Elizabeth MAUCK. Solomon married Elizabeth GORDON (b. 1800/1801 in PA), daughter of Willis GORDON & Elizabeth SNYDER. They were in the 1840 census of Turbett Twp., Juniata Co., PA (p. 248B), and the 1850 census of Perry [now West Perry] Twp., Union [now Snyder] Co., PA (p. 109A). The 1850 census shows them with two children:

1. Mary HAAS, b. 5 Jun 1836
2. Willis G. HAAS, b. 5 Jun 1839

Mary HAAS married 25 Oct 1860 in Green Co., WI, to Jonas BREON. We really would expect to find Solomon and family (including the still unmarried Mary) living in Green Co., WI, in the 1860 census (official enumeration date 1 Jun 1860). We might also expect to find that Jonas BREON was living in the county in the 1860 census, too, either on his own or living with his parents. I can find neither, at least not in the indices under any spelling variation I can think of.

Solomon HAAS is said to have died 17 Apr 1881 in Clarno (town? township?), Green Co., WI, so I did a page-by-page check of Clarno in 1860, without success. I then did a page-by-page check of the nearby townships of Jefferson, Monroe, and Spring Grove, again without success, though I did find Solomon's brother, David HAAS, in Spring Grove Twp. (he, at least, was indexed).

I also couldn't find Solomon in the 1870 census, though I did find his daughter and her husband, Jonas & Mary (HAAS) BREON, in Berryman Twp., Jo Daviess Co., IL (p. 17B).

In the 1880 census, we find an elderly Solomon & Elizabeth (GORDON) HAAS living with their daughter and her husband, Jonas & Mary (HAAS) BREON, in Winslow Twp., Stephenson Co., IL (p. 337D). Stephenson Co., IL, is adjacent to, and just over the state line from, Green Co., WI; and Jo Daviess Co., IL, is adjacent to Stephenson Co., IL. And I wonder if Solomon really died in 1881 in Green Co., WI, given that he was in Stephenson Co., IL, in the 1880 census. Was Solomon buried in Clarno, Green Co., WI? That could lead people to believe he had died there.

If anyone has found Solomon HAAS and/or Jonas BREON in the 1860 census or Solomon HAAS in the 1870 census, please share the location and page number.
