I have traced my ancestors of a Peter Wickert who was born about 1655 (place unkown) and died in Hollnich Germany in the mid 1700's. Our family tradition is that we came from ALsace and if we did I believe Peter Wickert may have been born in Alsace and immigrated to Germany when Louis 14th made ALsace a part of France in 1776. I have been trying to confirm the Alsace connection. Anyone with infor about the Wickerts in Alsace that early on especially including Peter Wickert and ancestors, I would live to hear from. The Wickerts eventually made their way to Plaggenburg Ostfriesland and then immigrated to Illinois in the US in the early 1880's.
