My Husband descends from Kurtz in Paris, Edgar County, Illinois. They had a Grist Mill at 120 Union St, Paris, Edgar County, Illinois.

Here's what we have so far.....

*George Kurtz* b abt 1843/4 Germany / France Alsace Region
( from Census )

He is the Immigrant of this Kurtz family and from Census he has said 1872/1873 were immigration years and also he was naturalised.
Can't find marriage but in 1880 cen he was in Indiana with wife and children born in Indiana - age of children and later census point to 1875 as marriage year.

Rumours in earlier family notes state he changed his name from **Chrisastemus Jean Kurtz** to George Kurtz. I haven't seen reference to a middle initial in my census searches.

George Married *Theresa Teresa Lehr or Lear* b Jul 1859 Indiana or Pennsylvania- from family notes aND census.

I have found them on census 1880 Marion County, Indiana, 1890 Paris, Edgar County, Illinois.

In a 1909 Directory of Paris Illinois, George Kurtz and Co. owned and managed a Grist Mill in Paris Illinois. WE have a cpoy of a photo of it.

George and Theresa had children that we know of as follows...

*George Emil Kurtz* b 1877 Indiana. m Jane Aiken Lally 1906 and was a pharmacist/druggist in 1909 Directory and University trained.

*Edward Kurtz* b 1879 Indiana - drowned at an early age but after 1880, before family photo.

*Rosalie K Kurtz* b 1883 Indiana m John Ferguson

*Abbie K Kurtz* b 1885 Illinois, bookKeeper for family Grist Mill and other businesses, never married

*Charles Wagner Kurtz* - b 9 Mar 1888 Paris, Illinois - my husband descends from him. a Journalist / Lawyer
m Nila Cleo McClure, 1911, paris Illinois and had William Charles Kurtz "Bill" in 1912

*LeRoy King Kurtz* b 24 Mar 1890 m Lillian and had Edward R Kurtz in 1919 and died in Indiana, family notes - was possible a printer.

*possible John Kurtz* - in family photo, but no census
(John could be second son)

I would love to find out when George the Immigrant came and on what ship, also who were Theresa Lehr or Lear's parents as she lists various birth states in Census. I'm sure they married in Indiana but the could have met and married in Penn if she was born there.

Any help appreciated.
