My first visit to this forum and a very late response to this message. My great grandfather,John Samuel Webb, went to Williamson County, IL as a young man and eventually married a local girl, Mary Jane Barringer. My family records say they married in Williamson County in October, 1879 but the State of IL online marriage records do not have a record of that marriage. They had one son, my grandfather, before they moved back to Robertson County, Tennessee in the Ridgetop community near Greenbrier where the rest of their family was born. I have been trying to research the Barringer line of my family and have been met with deadends in Williamson County but neigboring Union County has records of Barringers in that county including a Willis Barringer who I believe to be my great, great grandfather. I had often wondered what caused my g.grandfather Webb to go to Williamson County. I had an indication that other family members or in-laws of relatives had preceeded him there and he went there to take a job. My grandfather told me 50 years ago that his Dad had gone there to work and found a job as a cab driver(horse drawn of course). I would also be interested in any info regarding any migration of Robertson County,TN folks to that area of Illinois.
