d/o Daniel Dry , b. 25 March 1790, d. 23 Oct 1854, Cabarrus Co., N.C. & Rachel Lipe, b. 1791, both in Mecklenburg, N. C. They e had 11 children 1811-1833. Daniel probably s/o Andrew Dry, 1762, Montgomery Co. Penn & Barbara Ann Diehm, b765.
As a young man, he was raised on Adams Creek, Cabarrus Co.N. C. He was an educated man as his name and signature show up on many land deeds and sales. He was a farmer and dealt very heavy in land purchases and sales. He operated a gristmill & saw mill that had been built by Andrew. This mill was passed on to Henry and Solomon. Solomon ran it until his death. Daniel owned a piece of land in Stanly County and directed that his two sons, Allison and Moses, give this land to the formation of John Wesley Chapel Church in Richfield, Stanly County. Allison purchased most of his own land before his Father died, and was executor of Daniel's will, which is recorded in Cabarrus County.
Daniel joined the Army during the War of 1812. He held the rank of 3rd Corporal in Captain Wiley's Company, Cabarrus County, being discharged on March 7, 1815. His brother, John, was also in this same unit......Craig SMith <craigsmith@sc.rr.com
